COMMUNIST PARTY REJECTS EUSKADI Outlawing Sortu

The PCE-EPK rejects the decision of the Supreme Court that prevents the entry in the Register of Political Parties to Sortu and thus, their presentation in the upcoming municipal and provincial elections.
Considers that Sortu meets the requirements of legality which requires Parties Act and therefore no legal grounds for banning. Moreover, this decision will become an obstacle to peace and political normalization in Euskadi.
The PCE-EPK want to also point out that not only Sortu statutes conform to the requirements of the Political Parties Law, but have stated publicly on several occasions, to express their rejection of ETA violence, responding to the debate mainly internal and agreements adopted by their bases.
Therefore, the Basque Communist demand the prompt rectification by the Constitutional Court in this action, democratic, if not corrected, institutional representation will leave a large part of Basque citizens.
